Our patients at The Palm Desert Center for Advanced Periodontics, Cosmetic, Sedation and Implant Dentistry, have been experiencing our commitment to provide them with the high-quality dental care they need while feeling at ease, thanks to sedation dentistry. In fact, we often hear from our patients that, “Sedation dentistry changed my life!”
The Gentle Dentist
Dr. Nicholas has a reputation as the “gentle dentist.” as she and her team of specialists in Palm Desert, California, make sure that you, as a patient, are comfortable and relaxed during your time in the chair, even during complex, time-consuming treatment. If you have been putting off having much needed dental care even if it hurts to chew or you’re self-conscious when you smile, with sedation dentistry, you no longer have to resort to avoidance!
What is Sedation Dentistry?
This is a form of sedation that prevents you from feeling panicked or anxious while having dental work done to restore your beautiful, healthy smile. Sedation dentistry allows you to sit back, relax, and as the time passes, hours will feel like minutes!
You’ll be given a pill to take an hour before your appointment with Dr. Nicholas and her team. In this deeply relaxed state, you will still be responsive though you likely won’t be aware of what is happening, and you will feel no pain. You will likely feel relaxed and drowsy with a sense of well-being.
After you arrive at our dental office with your driving companion, our assistant will guide you to our comfort room. Resting under a warm blanket, your vital signs will be monitored to keep you comfortable and safe while Dr. Nicholas and her team take care of your dental needs.
Once your time in the chair is complete, the person who brought you to your appointment will take you home and stay with you until you are up and about. When you fully wake up, you will probably not remember much about your visit, including the drive home.
Why Sedation Dentistry?
One of the best things about sedation dentistry is that it allows Dr. Nicholas and her team to perform multiple dental treatments in one or two visits instead of six to eight! Not everyone has time to come in repeatedly for needed dental treatments. So you can have crowns, bridges, dentures, gum treatment, teeth whitening, dental implants and such done skillfully, comfortably and quickly.
